Cute & Cozy Plaid Dresses

I have a problem with plaid. As plaid has made a resurgence in the last 5 years (did it ever really go out of style?!), my wardrobe has exploded with plaid – pants, skirts, tops, and dresses! The plaid dresses make the biggest statement because, obviously, they are ALL plaid and I get so many compliments when I wear them. One of my favorite things about most of them is that they have pockets!

I started wearing them in October when it first got chilly and will continue wearing them into January – they aren’t just for the holidays. You can style them in a festive way to make a holiday statement, tone them down with a sweater (so that it looks more like a skirt), add a different belt, or pair the dress with more neutral colors for work. By mixing and matching what you wear these dresses with, you will get more wears out of them.

In the photos below, I give you different ways to style them and, like I always try to do, I’ve given you different price points for these cute and cozy dresses! Let me know – which one is your favorite?

Amazing Amazon

Amazon comes through again! Here is a budget-friendly buffalo check flannel dress that is cute, comfortable and comes in multiple colors. It runs slightly large, ties in the back (scroll down to see it from the back), and is a bit longer than the other dresses so you may want to get it hemmed (I did not and I’m short-just under 5’3″). This is the only dress that doesn’t have pockets. I’ve linked to the exact dress below, along with similar pearl statement necklaces and red suede heels!

I Heart KJP

My favorite plaid dresses are from Kiel James Patrick. They are well-made, fit perfectly, and the flannel is so soft and cozy. The plaid patterns they offer are adorable and can take you from the first signs of fall into the last snowfall of the season!

These are more expensive dresses but if you’re patient and wait for their sales, it’s worth the cost. You can also sign up for their marketing emails and save 10% right away. They aren’t paying me to write this review – they are truly lovely dresses.

Look 2 – For Work (Kai wishes he could come with!)

I switched out the flannel belt that comes with the dress and added a tan belt I already had. Just add a strand of pearls and you’re out the door!

A Surprise @ Gap

This buffalo check number I found online earlier this fall and thought, why not give Gap a chance? I haven’t shopped there in ages. And it worked out! I do think Gap runs large, so I recommend you size down. Here are 3 different looks with this dress!

Classic Brooks Brothers

Look 1

This dress was a Christmas present last year and one of my favorites. It’s the only plaid dress I own that is cotton stretch fabric (not flannel). It’s hard to see but it has a built-in tie around the waist that makes the dress really flattering and also very comfortable. Scroll to the next photo where I layer a holiday sweater over it – this is a great way to go from the office to a holiday party in one minute!

From last week’s post, holiday sweater round-up, here’s how you can pair the same dress with a festive sweater…
